The Seascape Rooms (sleeps 3)
The Seascape rooms consist of three large rooms on the first floor
of the Old Rectory. They are within the main house and are not a
separate unit, but open off a large galleried landing which is used
in common with the resident family. We have found that overlap is
minimal and has not been any problem to us, or the guests. The rooms
themselves are for the exclusive use of the guests. Entrance is
by an external stone staircase which is only used by guests. At
the top of the steps is a small balcony with a table and chairs
where breakfast or tea can be taken whilst enjoying the outstanding
views along the coast.
The kitchen is spacious and has lovely country views across St.
Catherine's Down. It is fitted with oak units, a split-level cooker
(electric), microwave oven and fridge freezer. It is fully equipped
with cooking utensils and china etc. and has a table and chairs
for meal times.
The sitting room and bedroom are both at the back of the house and so are very quiet and peaceful. They are both very large, about 18 feet square and face West with glorious views along the coast to the white cliffs of Tennison Down 12 miles away; and on clear days to the mainland beyond. We often have quite spectacular sunsets over the sea and on clear nights the moonlight on the water is really special.
The sitting room is comfortably furnished with mainly antique furniture and a large Persian carpet. It has a television, a video and a wood burning stove.
The bedroom is also furnished in period style featuring an iron and brass double bed plus a single bed. A cot can be provided if needed. Opening off the bedroom is the en-suit shower room with lavatory and basin. All linen and towels other than beach towels are provided and heating is included. All three rooms have central heating radiators and logs are provided for the wood burner. Guests are most welcome to make full use of the garden where they can enjoy short tennis, croquet and use of the barbecue, or just relax with a glass of wine as the sun goes down.
GENERAL
There is no extra charge for hot water or heating. Central heating
is provided in all rooms and free logs are provided for the wood
burning stove. Bed linen and towels are also provided free of charge,
though guests are requested to bring their own beach towels. There
is ample off-road parking close to your own entrance. Guests are
most welcome to make full use of the garden where they may enjoy
playing short tennis or croquet, eating al fresco or just unwinding
with a glass of wine on a warm summer evening.
Please note this unit has not been inspected or graded, but is of a similar standard to our other unit.
